Newcomer's Letter

Welcome! We are glad you are here. For many of us, it was a difficult and courageous act to come to our first SAA meeting. We are glad that you have made it here, and hope that our fellowship can be of help to you. We encourage you to come to at least six meetings as close together as possible, especially if you are wondering if this program is for you. Each meeting has a different flavor, and six meetings are usually enough to decide if the program can be helpful to you.

We also encourage you to talk to other members before and after meetings, and to take a phone list and talk to someone else in the program each day, even if only briefly. For most of us, isolation is a key component of our problem. Staying in touch with other members is very important to begin the process of breaking out of the isolation and coming to realize that we are not alone. There is help.

In our meetings we have welcome packets which include a few pamphlets which may answer some of your questions and help get you started on your recovery. These pamphlets, as well as our basic text - Sex Addicts Anonymous (or "Green Book") are also available online from the Fellowship Bookstore.

Finally, we want to tell you that anonymity is very important to us. We often hear it said at meetings, "what you say here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here." The trust we place in one another to maintain anonymity is a sacred one and at the core of our Traditions. We believe that this is important, because to recover, we believe that we need to feel safe to say what is truly in our hearts.

Again, we are glad that you came. There is much to learn, but you do not need to learn it all at once. We have found it very important to live "One Day at a Time". For today, whatever your problems, know that you are not alone.

Keep coming back!!!!
